Tips to Help Your Baby Sleep Earlier and Better!
Oh how many tired parents are out there who, like me, thought they had tried everything to get their baby to sleep and finally gave up hopelessly? If you’re like me, you’ve probably searched all over the internet for tips and advice on how to get your baby to sleep better. From this experience very recently, let me give you some of the tips and hints that my wife and I have found to be the most helpful in allowing us to get more sleep!
If you search the internet, you will find many “tips” on how to get your baby to sleep better. You might find things like:
1. Find out where baby sleeps best.
2. Accustom the baby to different associations for sleep.
3. Pay attention and know when the baby is tired.
4. Set consistent bedtimes and bedtimes.
5. Feed many babies during the day.
6. Warm the baby’s bed.
7. Change the baby’s diaper and put him/her in comfortable clothes.
8. Take the baby for a car ride.
9. Get into PJ’s yourself.
10. Music or sleep sounds for the baby.
11. Create a variety of bedtime rituals.
12. Use a consistent bedtime ritual (notice this contradicts #11).
13. Put the baby in the crib and put your hands on it.
14. Play a recording of your own voice in the baby’s room.
15. Leave one of mom’s nursing pads in the crib with him/her.
The list goes on and on…
With all these solutions, there are almost as many unanswered questions.
-How do you know which ones to try?
-How can you tell if it works or not?
-If it doesn’t work, how long should you keep trying before moving on to something else?
-What kind of combinations of things should you do?
-What do you do when two websites tell you to do the exact opposite things?
-How much of this just depends on the baby’s personality?
It is these questions that remain largely unanswered on almost never websites about the best baby sleep.
