The 5 ways to get tee time are

• Advance reservations

1. Preliminary reservations

The Pre-Booking Process is being changed for the 2015 season to align with the Old Football Ballot where a draw is made to determine who was successful.

Advance bookings will be accepted from 1000 BST on Wednesday 27 August for a 20 day window until 1400 BST on Monday 15 September. A ballot will be drawn to determine time allocations.

The thinking behind the change is to relieve the pressure of having to apply just after 1400 BST, as tee times will now be allocated on a random basis rather than on a first come, first served basis.

To submit an application, go to the Ballot page on the St Andrews Links website, which will be available until 27 August. The website provides useful information and instructions for completing the form.

2. Daily Ballot

After advance bookings are allocated, almost 50% of the remaining St Andrews Old Course Tee Times are allocated to the Daily Ballot.

This gives golfers who have been unable to secure times on the Old Course at St Andrews through pre-booking, an opportunity to play the Old Course.

The draw for the daily vote takes place 48 hours before the match date and entrants must provide their names, home team and handicap details, either by telephone, at the starting box at the Old Course St Andrews or at one of the Clubhouses before from 2 pm

Important points to remember if entering the Ballot

• There must be at least 2 players, single players cannot enter the Ballot

• Names, home club and handicap required

• Maximum handicaps are 24 for men and 36 for women

You can enter the Ballot

• In person at the Starters Box on the Old Course

• One of the Clubhouses

• By calling +44 (0) 1334 466666

All 3 selections must be completed before 14:00 2 days before the game date

• No Friday vote as the Old House is closed on Sunday

• Ballot successful golfers must present a current official handicap card, record or certificate to the tee before the match and a letter of introduction from a club professional is not acceptable

Single golfer

Freelance golfers can visit the Starters Box on the Old Course on the day they wish to play and the Starter will try to accommodate them with groups of less than four balls playing that day.

Premium Tee Times Guaranteed

The Old Course Experience to provide guaranteed prime times on the St Andrews Old Course, but these are expensive and require a minimum of three days at St Andrews.

Golf Tour Operators/ Local Hotels

Some tour operators and local hotels have guaranteed timeslots for the Old Course. These tee times are limited and in addition to selling out very quickly, there is a premium on these times the amount of which can vary. A second St Andrews golf course is included in this method.
