Solitaire – The Insomniac’s Computer Game

There are many online games out there for your little one. Some of these are the ones you should really encourage your child to play. Yes, encourage your child to play games. What an idea! There are games on the Internet that will teach your child many useful, essential concepts.

Card games that are online are some that you may have played as a kid (but not on the computer)! These are Card Matching Game, Memory Trial and Solitaire.

The card matching game starts with the cards face down. You have the entire deck face down. This may be too difficult for a 3 or 4 year old, but on top of that he has the attention span to complete this game. Your child will have to match pairs of cards by flipping the matching pairs over. Clicking on one of the cards will flip it over. If the next card the child clicks on matches the first card, they disappear from the screen. The child must clear the board with as few efforts as possible. This game takes a while, especially if the child does not remember the previously turned cards. This game strengthens the memory and trains the eye to recognize the same and the different.

Another card game is Card Memory Trial. This card game is suitable for the youngest child in the 3 to 10 age group. As the child grows, these toys can become too easy. Again the child must match pairs of cards by turning over the matching pairs. Clicking on the card will turn it over. If the next card the child clicks matches the previous one, then both cards disappear. If they don’t match, as you click on the third sheet, both previous sheets disappear. In this game, there are fewer cards to match than the previous game and they are symbols instead of numbers and letters in the suits. The fewer moves the child makes, the higher he will score. The score with the fewest attempts (or clicks) is the best score. The cards are shuffled randomly so that no one has the advantage of memorizing where the cards are.

Solitaire is just that, you have probably played this game many times. The difference with this online game is that there is absolutely no cheating! The rules are the same. The cards are laid out the same way you would lay them out when playing with real cards. The object of Solitaire is to use all the cards in the deck to gradually build up all four suits in the deck in stacks starting with Aces and ending with Kings.

After the deck is dealt, the child will double click on all the Aces so they can be moved to the top right corner of the board. That’s where the challenge comes in. Sometimes your Aces are deep in the deck or buried under one of the seven columns of cards. Once he or she gets all the Aces in the upper right section, it will get easier.

After placing the Aces on the top right side or moving the cards from one pile to another, the child will start clicking on the deck to start turning over cards.

The face up card in the deck is always available for play. But that doesn’t mean he will play. The child must start building on the columns so that more cards are played from the deck. The child will only build up their column stacks to free up cards to use to make the suits. This can be a very challenging game and will be too difficult for normal 3 to 6 year olds. Most of the time, there is no winner! It is very difficult to get all the cards in the top right four suits. This will teach your child how to count, recognize suits, and strategically remove certain cards to make other cards more readily available.

Most every card game teaches a skill. As a parent, you need to look at the game to see if your child has the patience and skills to perform what is being asked. Nothing is more frustrating to a child than not knowing how to play the game.
