Seven Wonders of the World – Glitters With Memories and Wonders
The Seven Wonders of the World possess that natural ability to attract and entice people compared to which all the other beauties and monuments of the whole world have failed to stand. From different parts of the world only seven things have been able to stand as the most beautiful and must-sees and hence, you can rightly imagine how magnificent they will be. The New Seven Wonders of the World that have won everyone’s heart and approval for being the best are Chichen Itza, Mexico; Christ the Redeemer, Brazil; Colosseum, Italy; Taj Mahal, India; Great Chinese wall; Petra, Jordan and Peru’s Machu Picchu.
Chichen Itza, Mexico
Chichén Itzá is the most famous Mayan temple city and was once the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. It has various structures – the pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of Chac Mool, the Hall of a Thousand Pillars and the Prisoner’s Playground, which can be seen even now.
Christ the Redeemer, Brazil
This statue of Jesus was designed by the Brazilian Heitor da Silva Costa and created by the French sculptor Paul Landowski. It stands about 38 meters high, atop Corcovado Mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro.
Colosseum, Italy
This large sports stadium is about 2000 years old where the glory of the Roman Empire was celebrated. To the delight of the public, it is being ascertained that fights and cruel games were being played in this arena.
Taj Mahal, India
The fifth Muslim Mughal emperor of India, Shah Jahan built this mausoleum in memory of his late beloved wife Mumtaj. Thousands of workers were employed to build this all-white marble palace.
The Great Wall of China
In order to attack and send the Mongol tribes out of China and build a unified defense system, this wall was being built. This is considered to be the largest man-made monument ever on this earth.
Petra, Jordan
It was the glittering capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV (9 BC to AD 40) located on the edge of the Arabian desert. This theater had a space for an audience of 4000 and was modeled after Greco-Roman prototypes.
Machu Picchu, Peru
It was a city built in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu. It is believed that the Incas abandoned it due to an outbreak of smallpox. It was left ‘lost’ for more than three centuries after the Inca Empire was defeated by the Spanish. The Inca emperor Pachacútec built this city in the 15th century. This city lies halfway up the Andes Plateau, deep in the Amazon jungle and above the Urubamba River.
