Why Jesus Christ Died on the Cross?
Many non-believers are curious to know why Jesus had to die on the cross for their sins when other people preached the gospel to them. They do not understand the significance of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross for their sins. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross to offer his life blood as a ransom for our sins.
Mankind is sinful. You may say you are not a sinner, but every human being on this earth is a sinner. This is because we are descendants of Adam and Eve. Adam was the first man that God created. God created Eve, the first woman, from one of Adam’s ribs. Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed God’s command because God had previously told them not to eat from the trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Disobedience is a sin regardless of whether the consequence of disobedience is good or bad.
Many people wonder why God can’t forgive our sins so that everyone can go to heaven. That way, Jesus Christ will not have to deal with the hassle of coming to earth and dying for our sins on the cross.
In Old Testament times, blood sin offerings were used to make atonement for the sins of the high priest and the Israelites (Hebrews 9:7-10). The high priest made atonement for himself and the Israelites on the Day of Atonement once a year. God requires that everything be cleansed with blood. There will be no forgiveness unless there is shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22).
Therefore, Jesus Christ made the decision to reincarnate as a human being through the Virgin Mary in order to die for our sins on the cross. Jesus Christ faced temptations like us when he was on earth, but he never sinned. The blood that flowed from his wounds when he was crucified becomes a ransom for sinners and cleanses our transgressions. He offered himself as a pure and blameless sacrifice on the cross. Jesus Christ loved us so much that He was willing to leave the luxury of heaven and come down to earth to die for our sins.
Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ can be saved regardless of ethnicity, country, etc. (Romans 10:9-13). Once you are baptized and become a Christian, it does not mean that your sins will automatically be forgiven. The blood of Jesus is only beneficial when you sincerely confess your sins and repent. Every day, you must examine yourself to see if you have sinned against God in any area of your life. Christians must obey God’s commandments and spend time developing a close relationship with God in order to inherit eternal life.
