The Planet Venus is the Light Bringer and the Story Behind the Fall of "Satan" in Isaiah 14

If I’ve ever heard an Old Testament story once, I’ve heard it told ten thousand times. It comes from Isaiah 14.

12 “How you fell from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning, how you fell to the ground, that you weakened the nations!

13 For you have said in your heart: “I will ascend to heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mountain of the congregation, on the sides of the north.”

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

15 Yet you will go down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 Those who see you will look closely at you and see you, saying: “Is this the man who made the earth tremble and who shook kingdoms?”.

This story was proof that Satan was once one of God’s good sons and then, out of the blue, one day he decided to take over everything and knock God off His throne. Local boy goes bad I guess. Well Satan, which term is never mentioned here, the former Bringer of Light which is what Lucifer stands for, is now the Prince of Darkness and the rest is history.

What is really going on with this story. Did you know that you see this drama unfold literally many mornings and evenings of the year? Did you know that even to this day, this Lucifer is confused with UFOs or landing lights! Jesus said he saw Satan fall from heaven as did millions back then and billions today if you know where to look. It is a very old story based on a very real observation by people who created a story about what they did not understand at the time.

First of all, let’s understand that Isaiah 14 is not really about a Satan the Devil as he has developed throughout the history of the Church. A scripture can never mean what it never meant, and this principle certainly applies to Isaiah 14. In the original Hebrew text, Isaiah 14 is not about a fallen angel, but with a fallen Babylonian king who had persecuted the children of Israel. Later in the context we see that he was a man who died. Now we often hear that this was a “type”, but this is mostly slippery slope. Metaphor maybe, but not the kind where we can change a man into a Lucifer and then Lucifer into Satan, which is never mentioned, and then the whole thing about how Satan became the God of this world, so send your tithes and be safe with us. “In the Hebrew text, the expression used to describe the Babylonian king before his death is ‘Helal, son of Shahar,’ which is best translated as ‘Daystar, son of the Dawn.'” The name evokes the golden glow of a pride.the king’s dress and court (so much so that his personal splendor earned King Louis XIV of France the moniker “Sun King”).

Craig Lyons-Bet Emet Ministries. The king here was a man, plain and simple, and for his haughty attitude, he had to die like everyone else.

Lucifer means “Bringer of Light” and is a term used by Roman astronomers to describe the planet Venus. Venus has always been the bringer of light as it always precedes the early morning sun. It is very bright and very visible, such that it has been mistaken, as mentioned, for non-existent aircraft landing lights. It is bright, but certainly not as bright as the sun. In mythology, people noticed this “god” who preceded the sun and seemed to be running in the zenith, which in astrotheology is called the place of the “Highest” or clearly stated for us today, MEDITATION! Noon is the throne of God in astrotheology. In terms. In Isaiah, this “Light” went before God, the Most High – the SUN. The highest point in the sky where the sun or anything shining outside the planet can rise, from our perspective. When mythology and even the Bible speak of God as “the Most High,” one can see the deeper meaning that hints at sun worship. The Bible promotes a similar but different form of Sun/Son worship, but which is lost on most Christians today.

The planet Venus turned out to be an enigma to mankind. It seemed the thing was to go before the morning sun and announce, if you will, it will come out. But then, as bright as it was and still is, it falls from the sky and descends to the earth, or in mythology, it seems to be thrown away. Strange! Not knowing that Venus was an inner planet and all the inner planets that revolve with the earth around the sun can never pass over us from east to west like the outer planets and stars do, they had to explain this. Thus we have the “fact” that this luminary, this Lucifer soon to be called Satan, MUST have been displeased with the proclamation of the Sun God, so MUST have said in his heart, “I will become HIGHER”. Well that was it! The Most High, unwilling to surrender his throne to this usurper, simply threw it back to the ground, or so it seems at least as we see it on the horizon. After that rather unsuccessful attempt to dethrone the Most High God, we are stuck with him as compliments to Satan of the Church, who embellished history and them! for the most part. Forever, we can say, “Satan made me do it.” You know, the bright and morning star that tried to be God but lost.

It was primarily the Catholic St. Jerome in the fourth century who mistranslated the Hebrew metaphor, “Daystar, son of the Dawn,” as “Lucifer,” and over the centuries an evolution of ideas took place. Lucifer the morning star became a disobedient angel, cast out of heaven to rule eternally in hell, hosting mostly all non-Catholics, but later all non-Protestants. Now the Church had the Prince of the Power of the Air, the Prince of Darkness, the God of this world, the Roaring Lion, the Fallen Angel, the former Day Star (because if you know where to look, Venus can even be seen during the day). ..it went wrong.

Interestingly enough, both Jesus, and the Jesus of Revelation who bears no resemblance to the Jesus of the Gospels, identifies himself as the morning star, a term used as a central theme in many Christian sermons. Jesus refers to himself as the morning star in Revelation 22:16: “I Jesus have sent my angel to testify these things to you in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David and the bright and morning star.”

So there we have it. People could never fully explain why this bright “star” we know as the planet Venus preceded the morning Sun as if announcing its arrival, but then fell back to earth. Very strange! Let’s make a story! This bright light, an Angel, the Light Giver and a minor deity compared to the SUN, really went wrong and decided to dethrone the SUN GOD, and later the Son of God, where the Sun rises when it is HIGHEST at noon. God not putting up with this simply threw Lucifer, now Satan or the Destroyer, back to earth where he belongs and people can be stuck with him until the Son of the SUN God returns to destroy the works of the Light Bringer now darkened. Great story! In Isaiah 14, this haughty king was acting like he thought he could knock Israel out of the picture, he lost, fell and died, just like the planet Venus every morning. Do not be confused, therefore, with God’s elect! 19 But you have been cast out of your grave as an abominable branch, and as the garment of those who are slain, pierced by the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a corpse trampled underfoot.

In the real story of the real human king of Isaiah 14, we see that he dies like all mortal men, and it is unthinkable to think that he could challenge Israel. In verse 19 we read, “But you are cast out from your grave like an abominable branch, and like the clothing of those who are slain, pierced by the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a trampled corpse. 20 You shall not join with them to be buried, because you have destroyed your land and killed your people; the descendants of the evildoers will never be known.” Graves, corpses, pits, burials, and oblivion are all features of what happens to humans, not angels or mini-gods.

Interestingly, Venus also rises spectacularly in the evenings after the sun sets, and then falls back to earth. Perhaps Satan has just come out of the underworld of darkness for a peak and to let us know that he still rules it before returning an hour or so after “Sunset” where even the Most High Sun goes every night, in Egyptian history to challenge “SET” God of the underworld. It makes you wonder about the stories about the Sons of the Sun preaching to souls in “prison”. But that’s another story.

So when you see Venus early in the morning when you drive to work and you think that either a train if it is low enough or a plane looking for a place to land is coming towards you, know that it is only the Illuminator, Lucifer , later your arch enemy Satan. , proclaiming “But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise, with healing in his arms; and ye shall come forth, and be multiplied as calves of the stall” Malachi 4:2. Notice it doesn’t say “Son”. Think of the wings more like rays and you’ll get the picture. That planet Venus, so beautiful is explaining a phenomenon that we take for granted for human beings long ago who were afraid of such things and just had to come up with a theology to explain it. Now you can say you’ve even seen Satan fall like lightning from heaven…how cool is that!
