TV Review – Survivor 20 Episode 1 – Best Season Yet

So I’m sure many of you watched the season premiere of Survivor 20 last night. I got to watch it this morning and was thrilled to see some of my favorite cast members returning to battle against “nature” and each other in Heroes Vs. Villains.

There were a few highlights for me in this episode that are worth mentioning. First, the hints made about the love brewing between the dragon slayer and the black widow. You all know who I’m talking about: Coach and Jerry. They would make the perfect TV couple, wouldn’t they? You know you were hoping for it, so maybe they’ll play it up in the coming episodes.

One interesting aspect was how my favorite survivor, Russel, seemed to fade into the background towards the second half of the show. He’s either quietly working his magic behind the scenes, or he’s found his match and will soon fall prey to veteran players.

Finally, I was very happy to see Ms. Sugar gets the shoe at the end of the episode. I can’t stand it at all. She looks like she’s 12 and complains all the time. She must have been chosen for the show just so they would have someone to vote for in the first episode. It was funny to watch Kolby trying to distance himself from her. Yes! Being rejected by Colby. Not good.

Either way, this first installment lived up to the promises made by its promos. As one of the many around the world who has seen every episode of Survivor since it started with season 1, I can say that this has to be the best yet. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Russel will step out of the shadows and truly claim his rightful crown as the best survivor to ever play the game.
