Baby’s 1st Birthday Party Ideas
Your baby’s first birthday is a milestone and deserves to be celebrated in style. However, many parents spend weeks, even months trying to come up with an appropriate birthday party theme. After all, what can you do to entertain a room full of one-year-olds?
A children’s sensory party is a great solution for toddlers and is suitable from newborns. Another bonus is that it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Most of the equipment needed can be purchased or made cheaply. You can even find local companies that will supply everything you need.
That’s what a sensory party is all about. Senses.
You will need:
1. Some shallow trays. Toy box lids are a fantastic choice.
2. Dried spaghetti
3. Jelly
4. Glow in the dark orbs. They can be bought from thrift stores for less than £1 each.
5. Some blankets to make a bed (or a small tent if you have one).
6. dried rice and empty plastic bottles with lids.
7. Cornmeal
8. Lots of old sheets (preferably plastic, plastic tablecloths you can find are good).
Pretty neat. Think about the room you will be hosting the party in and give out 5 stations.
Station 1.
Build your lair in the darkest corner. You want it to be as dark as possible, but not completely covered. Parents will need to keep an eye on their little ones, so it’s best to leave one full side open.
Place several textured pillows in the crib so that children can experience different “feels”. Don’t use your best fabrics as they will undoubtedly get dirty!
Add glow-in-the-dark balls to the nest.
Station 2 – Jelly Tray.
Simply make the jelly according to the instructions and pour into one of the shallow trays. Put in the fridge to harden. Lay down the plastic wrap and place the set jelly in its tray on the sheet.
Station 3 – Spaghetti tray
Cook the spaghetti according to the instructions. Run under cold water and pour into one of the shallow trays. Place the cold spaghetti on a tray covered with plastic wrap.
Location 4 – Cornmeal bin
Pour a small packet of cornmeal into a shallow tray and add enough water to make a thick, fluffy consistency. Place it in a container on plastic wrap.
Station 5 – Maracas
Pour some dried rice into clean, dry plastic bottles. Put the lids on tightly. You can decorate the bottles with wrapping paper if you want them to look more attractive.
Once you’ve set up your stations, you’re ready to let the kids loose. It’s a good idea to cover anything you don’t want to get tangled up. Everything suggested in this article is fairly easy to clean up and you don’t have to worry about little ones putting things in their mouths (which they inevitably will) when using food.
Be imaginative and add as many sensory items as you can think of.
Your one year old will love discovering new tastes, sounds and textures and is sure to have a fun and messy birthday.
