Healing of Cancer: Voodoo Death in Cancer Patients

While magicians are found in the uncivilized parts of the world, do you think there is no such voodoo culture in civilized countries? Let us analyze the following two cases of liver cancer.

Story 1: Gan was a 62 year old man. He had fever with vomiting and diarrhea for about two weeks. He was admitted to a private hospital. A CT scan performed showed a 9 x 10.5 x 9 cm mass in segments 4 and 8 of the liver. The mass appeared to extend toward the porta hepatis. The intrahepatic ducts were not dilated.

The doctor said Gan had hepatocellular carcinoma. He was then referred to a university hospital for further treatment but was not followed up. He came to see us on August 6, 2000 and chose herbs instead. His condition then was quite good. She was in no discomfort other than having mild midnight fevers. Gan started with our liver herbs.

Gan responded well to the herbs. After a week, his appetite increased. He was sleeping well through the night whereas previously his sleep had been disturbed and he was waking up at all hours of the night. He felt more alert. His facial expression showed that he looked much better than before. The midnight fevers were also gone.

On September 10, 2000, Gan told us that he had more energy and was able to jog. On September 21, 2001, that is, after one year and two months on the herbs, I met with Gan again. He told me he was not going to do any more blood tests since my alpha fetoprotein levels had gone from 179 in August 2000 (before taking the herbs) to 88,917 in June 2001 (after taking the herbs). He saw no point in knowing anymore. However, he was doing well and had returned to his job as an engineer. He had no symptoms or discomfort.

Gan got amazing relief from all his symptoms after taking the herbs for about a week. He was able to sleep, eat and work. After three months on the herbs, his liver function results returned to normal. However, the rising level of AFP indicated the fact that something was wrong with him. We didn’t know what else to do to help him. Perhaps, this is a case of “live and let live” and hope for the best. Of course, Gan had the option of going for surgery or other medical interventions which he had refused from the beginning. Looking at it from a positive perspective, Gan didn’t do so badly compared to those who chose medical treatments. Many who underwent surgery died soon after, while others developed more tumors in their livers. There is no certainty about cancer. What is certain about the outcome of such cases is its uncertainty.

Story 2: Danny was a 55 year old man. In September 2001, he had a sudden onset of abdominal pain. Investigations done in hospital showed multiple liver masses with ascites. He was then referred to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur. An abdominal CT scan showed “multiple enhancing nodules throughout the liver. The largest of these is 12 cm wide and located in Segment 5. This particular nodule shows mixed density with areas of decreased density in its center. It hangs down the lower border of the liver and appears to be surrounded by fairly thick fluid. Thick fluid is also seen around the liver. The appearances are probably due to a multicentric hepatoma with bleeding from the larger tumor. Multiple secondaries are another matter.”

An excisional biopsy confirmed a well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma. A chest X-ray showed that the heart appeared enlarged. The right hemidiaphragm was elevated and a mild left pleural effusion was noted.

In this case, surgery is not indicated. Danny then underwent transarterial chemoembolization. After this treatment the blood test results were not encouraging. The doctor told family members that Danny only had three to twelve months to live.

Danny and his family came to see us on September 30, 2001. He was not in pain but could not sleep. He had been sedated for the previous three or four nights. He couldn’t sleep. He had a dry cough and was a little out of breath. Every day starting at 4 or 5 in the afternoon he had a fever. We prescribed our liver herbs.

After a week on the herbs, Danny reported mild pain. He was able to sleep without having to take another sedative. He lost his appetite. But his breathing was better. The night fevers had subsided. Before taking the herbs, night fevers usually lasted three to four hours and his temperature was around 39 degrees Celsius. After taking the herbs, the fevers only lasted an hour or two and the temperature was around 37.5 degrees Celsius.

After two weeks on the herbs, Danny reported further improvements. He had no other pains. His breathing had improved and he was also sleeping well. He felt more alert. Some evenings he either did not have a fever or when he did, his temperature was only about 37 degrees Celsius.

After about a month on the herbs, Danny told us that he refused to go ahead with further chemo because his condition had improved tremendously. He had no more pain, he could sleep, he was more alert and his breathing was normal. His appetite had improved. He had fever only two evenings and his temperature was about 37.5 degrees Celsius. He told us his blood pressure was a little low, at — 100/70.

In November 2001, Danny came and told us that he no longer had night fever. This was after he had been taking the herbs for about six weeks. In late November 2001, Danny reported that his blood pressure had returned to normal, 110/80. He looked bright and healthy!

It was really amazing to see Danny doing so well. We had a VCD recording all of Danny’s visits. On his first visit he was wearing a jacket. He looked sick. His movements were stiff, slow and lifeless. He was out of breath when he spoke. A week later, Danny was different. He had more energy. He walked with a lot of energy.

Again, we’d like to ask a few questions: This is a man who suffered bleeding due to a ruptured liver tumor. She stopped getting chemo after just one treatment and opted for herbs instead. Why was he getting better? Why were there no other fevers? Why did his blood pressure return to normal? In this case no drugs or medical procedures were involved. In fact, he suffered bad side effects while on medical treatment! This is indeed a miracle cure.

On January 20, 2002, Danny and his family came to see us. He was in perfect health. Then, just a month later, Danny came again and was feeling rather down. He had spent time surfing the Internet and learned that his cancer was a terminal disease. He was depressed and this new information made him feel down all week.

To understand why this is, let’s go back a bit in time to before Danny came to see us. Danny’s doctor wrote on September 17, 2001: “The prognosis is guarded and his family has been informed.” And according to the family, Danny was only given three to twelve months to live!

We could predict that the outcome of Danny and Gunn’s treatment would be different, although they suffered from similar incurable liver cancers. As William Oslo said, survival depends largely on what happens in the head. I suspected that Danny is under a voodoo curse. He knew his cancer was serious and he only had three to twelve months to live. Although he benefited from consuming the herbs, he still felt hopeless and unsure of the outcome. He once told me, “I’m fine and I feel great on the outside, but I don’t know what’s going on inside.” His family members also told me that Danny worried a lot. Despite all the improvements he experienced from taking the herbs, his daughter told me that Danny just hoped he could live another two months, by which time his son would have finished college. He was looking forward to his successful graduation and then he was ready to die. No matter how much I assured him it would be fine, he remained skeptical.

On the other hand, Gan was not under a voodoo curse. His doctor didn’t get a chance to tell him how long he might live. He opted for herbs and refused further medical attention. He knew his cancer was serious but he left it at that! When the blood test showed elevated AFP, he simply stopped going for the test. When I talked to Gunn, he didn’t make any doubts like Danny did. For me, the prognosis for both cases was extremely poor. Gunn survived for two years, but Danny died much earlier — not only because of his cancer but also because of his mindset.
