Fresh Breath – How to Have Clean Kissable Breath

Fresh breath is not only more pleasant than just sitting, it is a sign of health, while the opposite can be a sign of more serious health problems.

I have worked in very close contact with 1000’s of people in my career as a massage therapist. Fresh breath is vital to a good therapist if you want repeat business and don’t want to offend your clients, so I made it my mission to learn how to keep my breath fresh without worrying about whether or not my breath stinks. . Adopting clean living habits and good hygiene help prevent the problem from becoming a problem.

Some underlying causes that you may not be aware of can have an adverse effect on your breath, such as gum disease – which can cause all sorts of health problems, including heart problems. Sinus or upper respiratory infections, GERD, dry mouth, uncontrolled diabetes, ill-fitting dentures and crowns can also be to blame. Certain medications can be a source of problems—especially those that dry out the mouth and prevent saliva from washing away bacteria and particles. Some examples are antihistamines and some antidepressants like Zoloft and Wellbutrin.

Once you’ve addressed these issues, the following tips will go a long way toward building confidence in great oral hygiene.

Tips for fresh breath:

Brush your teeth after eating. The sooner the better, as some foods can wreak havoc on your teeth after just 5 or 10 minutes. The acid from cola can damage tooth enamel within minutes, while milk can neutralize the acid; milk and coke are not a tasty combination in most people’s eyes.

Floss at least once a day people. Any dentist will tell you that if you only went to floss or brush your teeth, they would tell you to floss. And how many of us really think that not combing is a good idea?

So you can see the IMPORTANCE of flossing. Not only does it prevent tooth decay, but bacteria can enter the bloodstream much more easily through the gums.

Tongue scraping: Scratch your tongue at night and in the morning. There are stainless steel tongue scrapers available for $20 or more, but I find that using the blunt edge of a butter knife works just as well. Doing this at night will remove a lot of the bacteria that would normally multiply while you sleep – giving you that lovely morning breath – especially nice if you don’t sleep alone.

The way to do this is to stick out your tongue and drag the blunt edge of the knife from the back of your tongue to the front – do this over the sink and rinse the knife – do this until you see no white coating on the knife blade – make this a separate article on how to scrape language. Be careful not to gag and possibly vomit. If you want to do it without putting on a show, if you don’t enjoy cashing in on others.

I’m not one of those plastic tongue scrapers you can buy. Stainless steel tends to do a better job – I think it’s related to the same reason you can rub your hands on stainless steel sinks to help remove onion and garlic odors.

intake of H2O: Drink at least 1 ounce of water per 2 pounds of body weight each day—not including water lost through sweat or exercise.

For example, if you weigh 100 pounds, try drinking 50 ounces. or about 4 12oz bottles of water spread it out throughout the day.

A good habit is to have a drink right after waking up. It helps get things moving. Muscles also like to stay hydrated as they are less likely to cramp.

Peppermint essential oil – a company called TIB sells a good one – can be a great instant breath freshener but use very sparingly – a drop lasts a LONG time.

Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Along with all the great nutrients and water content, they are great body cleansers that will affect your breath.

Fresh parsley and mint leaves can help offset the garlic breath caused by this tasty but garlic-laden Italian dinner.

In my own experience, vegetarians often smell better than carnivores, and their breath is often sweeter, too.

What to avoid:

No coffee or smoking. The worst breath I was exposed to was coffee-halitosis with nicotine. Bad enough for me to graft. It can be so bad that they don’t even have to breathe in your direction to smell it or catch a whiff.

Do not use mouthwash: My dentist and countless other sources say it’s really useless and if you use too much it kills the cells in your mouth causing cavities and decay and thus bad breath which makes the problem worse instead of helping it.

Limit or eliminate red meat, pork and chicken. Meat can take days to go from consumption to elimination, and that means rotting in your digestive tract – not a pretty thought. This in turn can affect the quality of your breath.

Avoid foods like garlic and onion and peanut butter and certain spices and curry. Even though garlic is good for you, we all know that if only you eat it, everyone else suffers.

Roasted garlic is delicious, but if you eat too much—like a whole head—you’ll likely smell its gasiness from your pores and breath for the next day or two—not to mention spending some extra time in the bathroom. … and it won’t smell much.

Take these tips and incorporate them into your daily routine, and you’ll soon have reliable, kissable breath ready when the mood strikes.
